Deep Take$: Deconstructing Tesla's Robotaxi Ambitions

The Tesla Paradox: More Than Just an Automaker?

Tesla's value vs the world auto (approx).  If we trade present value of future earnings, does Tesla's valuation - which has been at times greater than combined auto industry  - imply 1 in every 2 cars sold in the future will be a TSLA.  Is there more to Tesla's composition?

Recent, dramatic declines in sales worldwide and in domestic US has raised investor alarms and put even more scrutiny on its energy storage and other businesses.

Takeaway$: AI vs Corporate Workforce

What will be The Market Reaction to The Next String of Corporate Layoffs?

In a recent interview with Emily Chang of Bloomberg Salesforce CEO and founder Marc Benioff proclaimed AI is doing 30-50% of the work at Salesforce. The company recently laid off 1000 employees and still does over 70,000, making it the largest employer (according to the SF Chronicle). If AI is doing that 50% of the work, several outlets have asked, does this mean 30-50% of Saleforce's current workforce is expendable?

Apple’s AI Lag: A Strategic Inflection Point

Jul 31, 2025

Apple posted strong Q3 2025 results, beating expectations across most categories including iPhone and services revenue.

  • Earnings per Share (EPS): $1.57, surpassing the expected $1.43.

  • Total Revenue: $94.04 billion, exceeding the forecast of $89.53 billion. This represents a 10% year-over-year increase, marking the company's largest quarterly revenue growth since December 2021.

  • iPhone Revenue: $44.58 billion, well above the expected $40.22 billion.

  • Services Revenue: $27.42 billion, also beating the anticipated $26.80 billion.

  • Other Products: While overall earnings were strong, the iPad and "Other Products" (including wearables and home accessories) categories saw revenues miss analyst expectations.

However, despite the financial strength, Apple is falling behind in the AI race.

Siri—once pioneering—now lags far behind AI tools like Google’s Gemini, Meta’s Llama, and Amazon’s Alexa+. As generative AI becomes more device-agnostic and central to user interaction, Apple’s delay in rolling out competitive AI tools threatens its ecosystem advantage.

Key reasons for the lag include Apple’s historically strict privacy policies, its second-mover strategy, and slower AI talent acquisition compared to rivals. While its premium UX and hardware remain dominant, the rise of AI as the primary user interface could weaken Apple’s competitive moat. With increasing pressure from regulators on its services business and growing strategic demands, questions are emerging about leadership under Tim Cook—and whether a visionary is now needed to guide Apple through the AI era.

In short: Apple’s business remains strong, but its AI position is a potential long-term vulnerability.
